About Me
I have ridden for over 20 years and have a degree in Equine Science & Management, which provides me with a greater understanding of your horse e.g. nutrition, physiology and general husbandry requirements.
I trained at the New Zealand School of Equine Dentistry, instructed by Warwick Behrns EqDT, IAED/CA. One of 15 Advanced Certified dentists in the world (as of June 2008), Warwick has over 30 years experience. He has worked internationally, including instructing at The American School of Equine Dentistry for 6 years.
I received very comprehensive tuition with huge emphasis on practical experience. During my training I was exposed to over 700 equine mouths, varying from simple procedures to advanced cases e.g. root canal treatment. Subjects studied include:
- Evolution of the horse
- Anatomy & biophysics
- Pathology
- Malocclusions
- Dentition aging
- Use of hand & power tools
I am a member of the International Association of Equine Dentistry (IAED) www.iaedonline.com , who provide conferences, up to date advice and universally recognised qualifications. I attended the August 2008 workshop held in Germany and was instructed by Dale Wearing (IAED Examiner)
